It seems every so often I just have to share a post about jewelry. I came up with a unique way to store dangly earrings and I hope you find this helpful (or at least interesting). I enjoy wearing artsy earrings, but there’s a problem: most artsy earrings dangle and when stored – dangles tangle!
While untangling one morning I got to thinking that the inside of the vanity door beneath my sink could be put to use. I went out and bought a couple packs of cup hooks and then smiled sweetly at Mike. He fell for it and headed to the shed to get his drill. About 10 minutes later my problem was solved!
It works great! They’re right where I want them when I’m getting ready and they’re not at all in the way!
The best part is, there’s plenty of room for more cup hooks :-)!
Do you have any clever ways you store your jewelry?
Oh, here’s one more quick pic – the charity quilt I was having free motion fun with in the last few posts!

I got a Christmas Present one year that I thought was rather strange. I opened the box and there was a picture frame with screening instead of glass. Well it turns out it is for hanging earrings! I just love it and it is always full.

Another de-tangling tip…I keep my safety pins for layering quilts in a plastic food container, stored with the pins open. They do get tangled. Just pick up a small bunch and drop them on your quilt from the height of a foot or so…they will fly apart. Repeat if needed.

A way to keep pierced earrings together within the pouch is to cut 1 or 2 inch squares from leftover batting and let the batting “wear” the earrings–you don’t have to dump everything out looking for the other earring. If you are making a mad dash for work etc, just grab up a set of earrings.

Hi Chris,
You asked for cute ideas of jewelry storing. Here’s how I hang some of my earrings. I got the idea from my girls. You take an old picture frame and staple a loose weave fabric in the opening. When you hang it on the wall, it looks like a picture! If, when you hang your earrings and the backs hit the wall, you can glue a small dowel on the back of the frame to hold it a little further away from the wall.
